Dr. William Castellano is Professor of Strategic Human Resource Management at Rutgers' School of Management and Labor Relations (SMLR) and Executive Director of the Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing. He is also a Board Member of the Global Equity Organization and Exit Planning Institute. A thought leader in Human Resource Management , Bill has helped shape the Center for HR and Leadership Development and the Center for Employee Ownership. In 2014, he authored Practices for Engaging the 21st Century Workforce, which draws on his research on engaging a multigenerational and diverse workforce.
Prior to his current role, Bill served as Associate Dean of External Relations and Marketing, Executive Director of the Center for Management Development, as well as the Director of the Center for HR Strategy at Rutgers SMLR. He developed the school’s HRM Undergraduate program, which was established in 2011.
Bill has over 45 years of experience in Fortune 50, entrepreneurial & research environments and was a Managing Partner at an executive search firm, a Chief Marketing Officer at a national HR outsourcing company and held senior HR management positions at Merrill Lynch and Manufactures Hanover Trust, where he was involved with HR strategies and practices that supported both individual business groups and the global enterprise.
An accomplished researcher, publishing work in practitioner and academic journals; and frequent speaker at national HR & business conferences, Bill's research, teaching, and consulting activities are focused on understanding the impact of employee ownership and equity compensation strategies on individual and organizational outcomes, the measures and drivers of employee engagement, and the strategic management of human capital .
